Lunaar 1 was born from the front face of the Spidlight — a section extracted, turned into its own object, and pushed to its formal limits. Four soft legs, one continuous seat surface, no interruptions. In the Luminous version it glows from the ground up. In matte solid finishes it reads as a found object — organic, ancient, immediately recognisable.

When Douglas Mont was developing the Spidlight in 2000, he noticed that the front cross-section of the chair - the view head-on, legs down - had a life of its own. He extracted it, scaled it as a stool, and named it Lunaar 1. The form is the same genetic material as the Spidlight, but the object is entirely different: lower, wider, more grounded, more ambiguous.
In the Luminous version, placed on the floor, it casts light upward and sideways - illuminating the space from below rather than above. In any matte finish it reads as sculpture: a tooth, a cloud, a body at rest. The interpretation is yours.
